Horizon Career & Workforce Readiness (Programs)

The Horizon Career & Workforce Readiness (HCWR) Program: This is a 6-week, 12-session program designed to prepare students for success in employment, training programs, and postsecondary education. The program integrates workforce readiness, technical skills training, career exploration, and social-emotional learning (SEL) to build practical skills, confidence, and future-focused mindsets.

A defining feature of HCWR is its integrated family involvement model, which invites families to participate alongside their students in designated activities, planning sessions, and the culminating Resource & Career Fair. This shared approach strengthens communication, reinforces learning at home, and helps families actively support their student’s postsecondary goals.

Program Goals

HCWR supports students by helping them:

  • Build employability and communication skills
  • Strengthen motivation, purpose, and future orientation
  • Explore career pathways and postsecondary options
  • Develop SEL competencies that support attendance and engagement
  • Prepare for employment, training programs, or college
  • Strengthen family support for career and postsecondary planning

  • 2 sessions per week (12 total)
  • Minimum Cohort: 16 students Delivery: On-site instruction by trained HCWR Facilitators
